Alexander TechniqueThis is a method of relearning how to use our muscles and to correct misuse of the body and faulty posture. It can help you to breathe properly, relieve stress and anxiety, back strain, headaches, postural problems (joints & muscles), fatigue, digestive and vascular problems. You are taught how to practise the method as a self-help technique. Dance & Movement & BiodanzaBiodanza, pronounced ‘be a dancer’, is dance with a difference, encouraging participants to stay psychologically and emotionally healthy by getting in touch with their positive inner feelings of passion and vitality through connecting to their own unique movement and dance. Dance TherapyAims to encourage you to discover ways of expressing your emotion through dance. Because the emphasis is on working as part of a group it can be useful in dealing with difficulties in relationships and with feelings of isolation. T’ai ChiUses body movement to promote health of mind and body. T’ai Chi has been described as ‘meditation in motion’ and consists of a series of flowing movements. The movements involve a constant shifting of body weight with spiral movements of the arms. It helps to relax the body, to deepen breathing, to improve co-ordination, to loosen joints and increase flexibility. It is also useful for developing self-control, patience and concentration and has been used to treat stress-related problems. YogaThe posture and breathing techniques of yoga help to exercise the whole body and improve the circulation of the blood. Exercises are done slowly and smoothly while focusing on breathing. Yoga helps to relieve stress and promotes relaxation and flexibility in body and mind. |
